Experience the thrill of the Bonsoy Gold Coast Pro as Snapper Rocks returns to the WSL Championship Tour from May 3–13, 2025
The World Surf League (WSL) is bringing Snapper Rocks back into the limelight as part of the prestigious Championship Tour (CT), locking in the iconic Gold Coast break from 2025 through 2028. This exciting return is made possible through a partnership between the WSL, Experience Gold Coast, and Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ).
Snapper Rocks has long been synonymous with elite surfing, hosting CT events since 2002. Its endless stretches of perfect waves have crowned champions like Kelly Slater, Mick Fanning, Carissa Moore, Gabriel Medina, and hometown hero Stephanie Gilmore. The Super Bank’s technical tube rides, high-performance walls, and air sections have consistently delivered breathtaking moments for fans and competitors alike.
Eight-time World Champion Stephanie Gilmore, who has claimed an incredible six victories at Snapper Rocks, expressed her excitement about competing at her home break once again.
“It’s obviously my home break and one of my favourite waves on the planet,” said Gilmore. “Snapper is incredibly high performance and offers a bit of everything, which is fun for both the surfers and the fans. There’s nothing like having that perfect canvas in front of you with a huge crowd cheering just metres away. It’s a true spectacle and has such a rich history.”
WSL APAC President Andrew Stark shared the significance of this event for the sport.
“Snapper Rocks is one of the wonders of the surfing world. The long, perfect reeling walls of the Super Bank are iconic, and this event returning to the CT wouldn’t be possible without the incredible support of the City of Gold Coast and the Queensland Government.”
The return of Snapper Rocks to the CT promises an electrifying showcase of skill, determination, and passion, with the world’s best surfers vying for glory at one of surfing’s most revered stages.
Mark your calendars for May 3 – May 13, 2025, and join the global surfing community as they celebrate the return of the Bonsoy Gold Coast Pro to Snapper Rocks.
