The pristine shores of Burleigh Heads are set to come alive once again as the Gold Coast Open (GCO) makes its much-anticipated return from February 14 to 16, 2025. This iconic surf event will see the world’s best surfers battle it out in the World Surf League (WSL) Qualifying Series (QS) 1000, promising an action-packed showcase of skill and determination.

Surfing Highlights

This year’s event is extra special as it hosts the longboard QS (LQS) for the second consecutive year at Burleigh Heads. As one of only two LQS events, it’s a critical stop for surfers hoping to secure a spot in the prestigious 2025 WSL Longboard Tour. Meanwhile, the QS divisions will see competitors striving for a place in the 2025 WSL Challenger Series, the gateway to the elite Championship Tour.

Expect to see surfing superstars like Kyuss King, reigning Taiwan Open QS 5000 Men’s Champion, and up-and-comers like Dane Henry and Ziggy Mackenzie, the current ISA World Junior Champions. On the longboard side, defending champions Declan Wyton and Tully White are set to dazzle spectators with their grace and power.

Beyond the Waves

The Gold Coast Open is not just about surfing – it’s a three-day festival celebrating coastal culture. Here’s what you can look forward to:

  • Live Music: Chill out to the tunes of local and international acts.

  • Skate Clinics and Demos: Watch the pros or get your own wheels rolling.
  • Beach Bar: Sip cocktails with your toes in the sand.
  • Food Trucks: Savour a feast of flavours from local favourites.
