Sessions Surf Festival is transforming Burleigh Heads into a transpacific battleground this Saturday, 30 May, with a USA v Australia surf showdown featuring some of the sport’s biggest names in one unmissable final-day spectacle.
Taking place at Burleigh Beach from 10.15am, the headline heat pits American surfing icons Kelly Slater and Dylan Graves against Gold Coast legends Mick Fanning and Nathan Hedge in a friendly but fiercely competitive clash, decades of surf rivalry settled on one of Australia’s most iconic breaks.
The final day also delivers a packed schedule of community surf heats run in classic Sessions style, featuring one-wave formats built for fast, high-energy matchups and open participation across all ages and skill levels.
Rounding out the festival’s two-week program, Australian surf-rock favourites Hockey Dad and rising artist Finojet, son of Xavier Rudd , will perform a free live set on Burleigh Hill, overlooking the beach and ocean, to close out what has been one of the Gold Coast’s most celebrated surf festivals of the year.
