You may have heard that the YOHKA OCR 100m World Series obstacle event will descend on Kurrawa Beach from May 23-25.

What’s equally exciting is that they’ll also be hosting YOHKA Pursuit– a high-energy, fast-paced urban tag event that puts a thrilling twist on the nostalgic childhood favourite.

How does it work?

Teams of four will go head-to-head in a high-intensity, fast-paced showdown where speed, agility and strategy reign supreme. In this electrifying competition, players face off in 20-second one-on-one knockout rounds inside a custom-designed obstacle arena built to challenge reflexes, test decision-making, and keep adrenaline levels soaring.

The goal? Don’t get caught.

Each match runs for 10 minutes and is split into two four-minute blocks with a two-minute rest in between. One team plays the role of pursuers while the other defends, and roles are reversed after the break. The action unfolds in a Tabata style format:

20 seconds play
10 seconds rest
Repeated for four minutes per block

During each 20-second burst, it’s a one-on-one battle. Either evade capture or tag your opponent to score for your team. Every team will compete in at least one match. Once the initial matches are complete, it all comes down to a sudden death playoff to determine the ultimate champions.

What is Urban Tag?

Urban Tag is a modern twist on the classic game, typically played in urban, obstacle-filled environments. While still an underground sport, it’s commonly seen in professional settings like World Chase Tag, where athletes compete in structured matches with clear rules, time limits and custom built arenas.

It is an excellent sport for staying fit while having fun with your mates.

How to book

Ready to take on the challenge? Rally your crew and head to the YOHKA area at Kurrawa Beach from May 23-25. It’s shaping up to be a weekend you won’t forget.
