Early next month at the Sofitel on Collins Melbourne the judging panel have the incredibly hard job of selecting the 2015 Miss Universe Australia.

Starting off our finalist interviews we chat with Alicia Maxwell from New South Wales who is one of the national finalists who will be competing for the 2015 title of Miss Universe Australia and hoping to follow in the footsteps of Jennifer Hawkins, Rachael Finch, Jesinta Campbell and last years winner Tegan Martin.

Alicia is currently studying a Bachelor ofEducation and Masters inPshycology and is an advocate for health and fitness and passionate about promoting a healthy lifestyle. Her family and friends are her world, and she loves spending quality time with them all. While being adventurous at heart and being a typical girly girl.

Alicia Congratulations on making it so far in such a coveted competition! We have to ask how has the overall experience been so far …?   And how are you feelings in the lead up to the finals. ..?

Thank you so much! The overall experience has been amazing. The Miss Universe Australia Pageant definitely provides an opportunity to discover your strengths and perfect them whilst realising your weakness and transforming them into strengths. This is definitely the most exciting part of the whole journey.

And how are you feelings in the lead up to the finals?
I am feeling exactly how I want to feel. I have a very intense workout and nutritional regime, which I follow strictly providing me with complete confidence entering the National Finals. Apart from this, all the National Finalist have been extremely spoilt by all the sponsors in Miss Universe Australia and thanks to each and every one of them, I feel that I am 100% ready.

With contestants coming from all over the country and bringing their own individual flare What do you think will set you out from the rest of the finalists  competing in the 2015 competition …?
Wow that is a difficult question to answer… Without meeting all the girls, I am certain that they are all beautiful young women and all individually unique. I am a strong, confident and determined young woman, who has taken the opportunity to ensure I can be the best representative I can be. With my dedication to exercise and nutrition, as well as keeping up on current news and trends in the media, I feel I am entering the National Finals with complete confidence and absolutely no regrets.

What is something people might find interesting about yourself …?
For people who don’t know me, you would see me as your typical girly girl. I love keeping up to date on each new fashion trend, involving hair, nails and makeup. During my early teens and ever since I was a little girl, I have only ever owned and worn skirts and dresses however under this exterior I am actually quite adventurous and sporty. Most people would never know that I was actually a state runner and high jumper, cross country and athletics school champion and even participated in triathlons.

Speaking of a person’s unique flare or style what would you say is your best style or beauty secret …? My best beauty secret would be my new regime including all products from Elucent skin care. As cliché as it may sound, suffering from sensitive skin since a little girl I have never explored to many products as I have always reacted to them all. I have however, been very blessed with good skin, which has allowed me to never really be to concerned about what products I use. For the past two weeks I have been using Elucent Skin Care range and already I have seen such amazing improvements, now my skin glows and is both soft and clear. I actually cannot believe the results and definitely recommend these products to young girls who may also suffer from sensitive skin.

With Fitness becoming more and more a part of a person’s personal style how would you describe your fitness regime and how it relates to your life …?

Fitness, like mentioned above is a part of my every day regime. I have always been passionate about health and fitness, and believe it or not I actually enjoy working out as it provides me with energy and confidence, which is vital in every day life. My workouts consist of both cardio and weights and I mainly focus on high intensity aerobic routines, increasing my heart rate for optimal results.

Who or what inspired you to get involved in the Miss Universe Australia Pageant …?
Ever since I was a little girl I always dreamed about having the opportunity to compete in the Miss Universe Australia Pageant. I used to get up early in the middle of the night to watch the international pageants live. It was my family and my best friend who encouraged me to enter and I am so thankful to them all because I am now living my childhood dream.

What drew you to such a competition ….?

Being a girly girl at heart, the Miss Universe Australia Pageant suited my personality and my style perfectly. The reason I enjoy being involved in a beauty pageant is it gives you the opportunity to grow and experience a process in which you have to keep working towards a specific goal. Being crowned Miss Universe Australia provides you with a platform to inspire and be a role model for young children around the world and that is something I aspire to do.

Speaking of inspiration who inspires you most …?
It is my family, boyfriend and best friend who inspire me the most. They give me the courage to chase down my dreams and they never turn their back on me, always encouraging me to be the best person I can be.

The Miss Universe Pageant has a long history of associating with charity are there any social causes that are particularly close to your heart that you would like to  use the platform of miss universe to advance …?
As we would all agree, Cancer is a prominent issue around the world and is increasing every year. Cancer has affected my family specifically as well as my close friends families. I have previously raised money for the Cancer Council and will always continue to volunteer as I feel there are way too many lives lost due to this horrible disease and if I can make a small contribution to an organisation that can save the lives of many, then that is exactly what I will do. Last year I cut 30cm of my hair off and donated it to Pantene Beautiful Lengths, in the hope that my hair would put a smile on at least one ladies face that is suffering due to this disease.

What is something you hope to bring out of the Miss Universe Australia Pageant …?
Miss Universe Australia is a roller coaster of nerves and excitement, but if I could take away one thing it would be to be proud of the person I am and the hard work and dedication I have put into it, and to be happy and satisfied with the decisions made.
Not to mention making new friendships along the way. Go Team NSW!
