Well, it’s that time of year when the search to find Miss Universe Australia is well underway with finalists being selected across the country.
Early next month at the Sofitel on Collins Melbourne the judging panel have the incredibly hard job of selecting the 2015 Miss Universe Australia.
Today we are chatting with finalist Brittany Taylor from Western Australia who is one of the national finalists who will be competing for the 2015 title of Miss Universe Australia and hoping to follow in the footsteps of Jennifer Hawkins, Rachael Finch, Jesinta Campbell and last years winner Tegan Martin.
First of all the all-important introduction tell us a little about yourself…?
I’m currently a student in my final year of a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in PR and Journalism, working early mornings in my family racing stable riding horses. I’m a really spontaneous person and love anything adventurous; sky diving, bungee jumping, you name it. I have a strong desire to see the world and hope to spend some time living overseas to experience a culture different to my own.
Brittany Congratulations on making it so far in such a coveted competition! We have to ask how has the overall experience been so far …? And how are you feelings in the lead up to the finals. ..?
The experience so far has been beyond amazing. WA’s program started back in September so it has been a long time to develop as a person. I have met people who I can easily call friends for life and have had such unique experiences with them. A huge highlight for me was WA’s trip to Bali!
With contestants coming from all over the country and bringing their own individual flare
What do you think will set you out from the rest of the finalists competing in the 2015 competition …?
In a competition like this, it’s definitely not easy to stand out. I’d like to think I’m quite a well rounded person and perhaps my duality being a girly girl with a tomboy side will give me a point of difference.
What is something people might find interesting about yourself …?
On face value most people are surprised to learn how hands on I am working alongside my horse trainer Dad.
Speaking of a person’s unique flare or style what would you say is your best style or beauty secret …?
Dare to be different. Fashion trends tend to dictate what we wear but I love when people put their own personal style spin on a popular trend
With Fitness becoming more and more a part of a person’s personal style how would you describe your fitness regime and how it relates to your life …? Fitness has become a lifestyle for me. There’s nothing I love more than starting the day with a group of motivated like-minded people who are dedicated towards achieving their own fitness goals. I tend to alternate between f45, boxing and abs targeted gym sessions
Who or what inspired you to get involved in the Miss Universe Australia Pageant …?
A friend of mine who was a past national finalist was my biggest inspiration to get involved. She gave me the push I needed to sign up on registration day so I’m definitely grateful for her now!
What drew you to such a competition ….?
For me it was that a competition like this is so much more than just a ‘beauty pageant.’ It really gives you the chance to focus on who you are as a person and grow and develop into the person you want to be.
Speaking of inspiration who inspires you most …?
I tend to find inspiration from anyone who is less fortunate than me. Recently I cooked lunch for the families at Ronald McDonald house and spent time at our local children’s hospital where I realized the importance of making the most of every opportunity I’m lucky enough to get because there are others who would be so grateful to be in my position.
The Miss Universe Pageant has a long history of associating with charity are there any social causes that are particularly close to your heart that you would like to use the platform of miss universe to advance …?
After visiting the Bali Life Orphanage I’ve become really passionate about advocating for education in less fortunate countries. It’s so important to give a child the resources and opportunity to reach their full potential rather than begging on the streets being the only life they know.
What is something you hope to bring out of the Miss Universe Australia Pageant …? I hope I can inspire someone to strive towards his or her own goals. I never thought I would be a national finalist when I started the program back in September so anything is possible!
Now the Quick 5
1. What is something you find yourself always saying …?
That will do” – the whole family use this expression so much that we named my horse ‘Thateldo.’
2. Your Favourite place in the world to wind down and relax …?
On my family farm walking around bare foot in the sand with nothing but the sound of animals
3. What song would you say is your personal anthem or theme song …?
Don’t worry, be happy by Bob Marley, you CANNOT be sad listening to that song!
4. If you could give yourself one piece of advice 5 years ago what would it be …? Everything will turn out exactly how it is meant to.
5. And Finally five things you can’t live without …?
Passport to travel!
