Wrap it up The wrap-around style has made a big bang this year, appearing all over the cat walks. In dresses as well as swimwear, the alluring waist wrap around reveals just enough of your skin to make it interesting and leave them wanting more. If you’re looking you can find many great examples of this style at high-end stores such as Fella Swimwear. Provocative Peepholes The one-piece swimsuit and bikini have been reinvented with the peephole bathing suit. Sensuously designed well placed angular cut outs reveal morsels of flesh in a way that’s somehow much more alluring than a simple two piece. They go low we go high I was thrilled to see that the high cut bikini and low plunging necklines of 70s and 80s glamour have made a big comeback, and brought sex appeal and class to beach wear. Bikinis have been previously quite simple in style and colour, but simplicity is long dead. With so much on show, don’t forget to make an appointment to have your skin hair free and silky smooth to avoid any surprises, as these high cut styles are quite revealing. Cream of the Crop This year crop tops have a strong hold, replacing traditional bikini tops. Crop tops elongate the waist, and look amazing paired with cut off shorts once you’re out of the water. This style is especially flattering on smaller chested girls or those who’ll be doing a lot of running around and don’t want to worry about the spillage. Halt right there Never out of style the always flattering halter neck made another big appearance, bringing with it sexy deep cleavage and timeless class. Tassels A somewhat unexpected newcomer to the swimsuit this season is the tassel. Tassels were everywhere at this year’s fashion show, taking swimwear from functional to extravagant, and that’s exactly what today’s swimwear is all about. Tie me up Mr Gray Some of the laced-up bikini bottoms and sides might’ve looked at home in a boudoir more than a traditional bikini but no one’s complaining. Lacy, strappy tie up sides are huge right now, more straps the better. Intricate rows of lacing give a feel more of lingerie than swimwear and are an exciting theme showing up in swim shows everywhere. Brush your shoulder off Everything that’s been happening in designer couture all over the world has started being reflected in swimwear. The patterns and textures of high fashion have now been greedily devoured by the once humble bathing suit, such as the one shoulder style. This style is not only current and practical but glamorous, and will have heads turning whether you’re high heeled glass in hand at a party, or unwinding on the beach. Fake and Bake For the health of your skin a fake tan is always preferable to hours in the sun, but with so many geometric shapes and asymmetry you really need to be wearing sunscreen if you want to avoid unusual tan lines. My favourite diy tan when I’m travelling is St Tropez . Remember to always use a tanning mitt when applying your own tan to aid application and avoid streaks. Butter me up It’s imperative to moisturise to lengthen your tan and keep your skin looking supple, I like Palmers Cocoa butter formula as it goes on easily and keeps my skin hydrated and glowing when I’m spending hours at the beach. The complexity and quality in the textures and patterns of the swimsuits that are coming out are outstanding. I’ve only ever seen designs like this in high end couture, and am very excited that the humble bathing suit will now be no holds barred in the fashion stakes. Whatever your style is there’s something out there to make you feel great, embrace the skin you’re in and most importantly enjoy yourself, which is what swimwear is truly all about. ]]>
