It's Australia v New Zealand at the double for gold

Australia will be vying for its sixth straight men’s gold medal in the final later today, in what will be captain and Aussie Flagbearer Mark Knowles’ final international game before retirement.

In the men’s competition at the Gold Coast Hockey Centre, World No.1 Australia will play New Zealand for the gold medal, while India and England will play for bronze.

New Zealand will be aiming to win its first Commonwealth Games gold medal, having reached the final for the first time since 2002.

The women’s gold medal game will be a Trans-Tasman affair as Australia takes on New Zealand.

The Hockeyroos will be attempting to win their fourth straight Commonwealth Games gold medal, while the Black Sticks will be hoping to be crowned the queens of GC2018.

The rivalry has spiced up in recent days with Australian midfielder Jane Claxton claiming the New Zealand side was ‘ a bit cocky with some of the stuff they put in the media’.

The English women will take on India for bronze, with both sides desperate to finish their campaigns on a winning note.

Indian coach Harenda Singh spoke after his side’s semifinal loss to Australia and said: ‘I want to see a medal around my girls’ neck on Saturday. ‘
