Australia's Opals win Gold on Gold Coast

Magbegor (AUS) adding 11. CAMBAGE, who led the tournament in scoring and hit all five of her shots to score 10 points, received a technical foul for complaining to referees that disqualifed her with 6:34 left in the second quarter and Australia leading 30-17. The Opal had received an unsportsmanlike foul for making contact with the head of England centre Azania Stewart less than a minute before. Australia wasn’t rattled by the ejection, the energised crowd spurring it to a 49-31 half-time lead. The advantage ballooned to 78-47 by the end of the third quarter, the Australians sharing the scoring load with Cambage out. Every Opal scored in the game, while Stewart’s 13 points led England. Australia remains the only team to win Commonwealth Games women’s basketball gold after its victories at Melbourne 2006 and GC2018.
