We caught up with the two teams behind Black Hops Brewery and West Aussie’s Blasta Brewing as they pitted their best brews against each other in The Battle of The Brews.

Taking place at House of Brews, the home of beer on the Gold Coast “nominated by me” we set in for a night of tippling and good fun, talking shop with some of the best in Aussie Beer.
The evening went on with a little banter, tips and tricks and slight bragging was thrown in for good measure, as we waited for the votes to come in.

House of Brews customers and social followers we’re voting on their favourite beers of the evening in three groupings with the first beers battling it out were the California Love West Coast IPA by Black Hops vs Grimster Double G West Coast IPA by Blasta Brewing,
We had to taste each of these twice to get an adequate representation of how thirsty we were :P.

Second up was the battle of the Sours with Tropic Like It’s Hot Pineapple Ginger & Lemongrass Sour by Black Hops Brewing vs Rampant Raspberry Sour by Blasta Brewing both bringing a refreshing twist on the evening.
The third pairing was the Black Hops Super Hornet IIPA vs the Blasta Brewing Son of a Beast NEIPA.

While we waited for the votes to come in, we all started discussing the important topics of today. You know the current toilet paper war and the craziest hospitality stories. Still, after a few minutes, we had the results, and some lucky punters had some great new brewery merch.

It was time to announce the winner of the Battle of The Brews, with Blasta Brewing just edging out local favourite Black Hops Brewery in the three categories.
With that, the winners had been decided and we all went back to talking beer, tasting beer and laughing it was a great night to be had.
