Tomorrow morning local Sea FM brekkie host and NRL legend Ben Hannant is going to row a full marathon with the goal of raising $10,000 for ten Gold Coast Charities.
Kicking off at 5:30 am at the Tallebudgera Leisure and REC Centre the Row for Life event will see 49 teams setting out to complete a marathon, but Hannant will be the only one doing it on his own.
The brainchild of First Choice Solar director Matt McKinley, it’s hoped the Row For Life will become an annual fixture on the Gold Coast. “As Gold Coasters we are very much aware of the difference various charities make to the lives of those less fortunate and those doing it a little tough, and we just thought this was a fantastic opportunity for the broader community to get together and show their support for the charities and organisations who work on the front line day in and day out.” “We are extremely grateful for the support afforded the inaugural row for life event by Sea FM and thankful that so many small businesses, sporting teams and individuals have registered teams.” Matt said.
Row for Life is hoping to raise over $100,000 for these great organisations Rize Up, Serving Our People (SOP), Currumbin Wildlife Hospital, Preston Campbell, Gold Coast Community Fund, Arcadia College, White Cloud Foundation, Volunteering GC, Gold Coast Hospital Foundation and Global Awakening Fund.
Sea FM Brekkie will be broadcasting live from the event, with Bianca and Ben bringing you commentary and Bianca also getting in on the action alongside Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate to complete one of the 10-minute legs together at 8:10 am.
