Forget silent nights; on the Gold Coast, Christmas is a full-sensory spectacle, where dazzling lights, synchronised soundtracks, and even the occasional snow machine light up the suburbs. We’ve scouted the most spectacular residential shows, proving that the North and South Coasts are locked in a friendly battle for festive supremacy. Grab your gingerbread man and prepare for a confident storytelling journey through the best seasonal stops.

Here is your detailed guide to the iconic displays that are absolutely worth the drive this season.

North Gold Coast Christmas Lights

The North Gold Coast consistently delivers high-impact, extravagant displays, particularly in the Coomera and Pacific Pines regions.

If you’re looking for sheer scale and tradition, Upper Coomera is the place to be, with streets that demand you get out and walk.

Upper Coomera

Forest Oak Drive, Upper Coomera is undoubtedly one of the most iconic streets for Christmas light perusing, with almost the entire street lighting up in festive colours and interactive exhibitions.

At 4 Santa Clara Rise, Upper Coomera (known locally as Santa Claus Lane), your Christmas light dreams will come true. This showstopper draws crowds every year with an inflatable Santa arch, teeny Santas, and big Santas—the more you look, the more fun you’ll find.

For a truly traditional experience, visit 4 Morgan Court, Upper Coomera, where they have been perfecting their display for over 20 years. Getting bigger every year, the lights run nightly throughout December (6 pm to 10 pm) and offer fantastic photo opportunities, including a snow machine and a full-sized Santa sleigh.

Meanwhile, 97 Annabelle Crescent, Upper Coomera offers a huge display with moving features, Christmas statues, Santa parked up on the roof, and a walk-through Christmas trail. This mammoth effort, which includes an indoor nativity scene, takes the owners over a month to set up.

Pacific Pines

Pacific Pines is not afraid to pull out all the stops, hosting one of the Gold Coast’s top displays that has reigned supreme in competitive circuits.

21 Springwood Avenue, Pacific Pines has been the multi-year winner of the Gold Coast Bulletin’s Christmas Lights Competition, and once you see the dazzling lights, you’ll realise why. Shows run from 7 pm to 9 pm daily starting December 1st, and look out for details on their planned ice cream and snow machine.

If you’re seeking efficiency, Wunburra Circuit, Pacific Pines does a great job, usually filled with displays ranging from small decorations to full-blown, multi-storey affairs.

For the ultimate dose of Australian holiday charm, check out the impressive sight of Santa’s kangaroo sleigh at 3 & 4 Beaumont Crescent, Pacific Pines. This location has an ‘elfie’ in Santa’s sleigh and features a unique Disneyland-inspired Christmas room.

Southern Gold Coast Christmas Lights

The Southern Gold Coast is giving the northern half a serious run for its money, showcasing deep traditions and brilliantly unique setups.

Tucked away in Nerang, 44 Winchester Drive has truly decked the halls (and the fence and front garden, too) for a blindingly beautiful display. Expect twinkling lights on every surface, a Grinch sneaking over the wall, and Santa in a treehouse.

When a Christmas lights display has been running for over 30 years, you know it’s going to be good. That’s what you’ll find at 1 Augathella Court, Mudgeeraba, featuring twinkling reindeer pulling Santa’s sleigh, an entirely lit-up fence line, and an adorable Santa’s workshop. Many houses in Augathella Court, as well as the adjoining Birdsville Street, also feature displays.

The mega display at 42 Volante Crescent, Mermaid Waters, which runs year-round, will be lit from December 1st. Please mark your calendar for December 10th, when they plan to include snow, bubbles, and Santa photos.

At 16 Petherbridge Avenue, Merrimac, the owners have pulled out all the stops: Santa and his sleigh careening over the roof, a giant Santa in the front garden, and a North Pole postbox for little ones.
