The wait is nearly over – Brisbane is about to experience one of Australia’s most inclusive music festivals, Ability Fest, for the very first time! After its success in Melbourne, the festival is heading to Victoria Park/Barrambin on October 26, and it promises to deliver an unforgettable day of music, community, and inclusivity.

Founded by the legendary Dylan Alcott, Ability Fest stands out as Australia’s most accessible festival. “We’re thrilled to bring Ability Fest to Brisbane this year alongside our Melbourne event,” Alcott shared. “It’s been a goal of mine to share our passion for great music and good vibes with the Sunshine State, and offer an accessible and incredible festival experience for all.”

What to Expect at Brisbane’s Ability Fest

Set to be a day filled with excitement, the Brisbane event will feature an impressive lineup of performers across two stages. While the specifics for Brisbane haven’t been revealed yet, if Melbourne is anything to go by, you can expect a mix of top-tier acts, including electrifying bands and talented DJs. Whether you’re into rock, pop, or electronic beats, there’s something for everyone.

Beyond the music, festival-goers will also be treated to a range of experiences designed to make the day even more memorable. There will be food trucks serving up delicious local bites, glitter stations to add some sparkle to your festival look, and a silent disco where you can let loose. You’ll also find interactive spaces where you can create your own art or make bracelets as keepsakes from the day.

Accessibility and Inclusivity at the Forefront

Ability Fest prides itself on being as inclusive as possible, and this year is no different. With the help of disability inclusion consultancy Get Skilled Access, the festival is making sure everyone can enjoy the event. Elevated viewing platforms, accessible pathways, quiet zones, and sensory areas will be available to ensure a comfortable experience for all.

For the first time, the festival is open to attendees aged 16 and above, further expanding its reach and creating a welcoming space for people of all ages to come together and enjoy music.

Alcott is especially proud of the accessibility efforts, saying, “Our top priority is to create an incredible festival that is also accessible, and I believe we’ve achieved that since our launch in 2018.”

Supporting Local and Giving Back

Local community and partnerships are at the heart of Ability Fest. Major partners ANZ, Kia Australia, and Nike are all playing key roles in making the festival as accessible as possible. ANZ is behind the sensory zone and chill hill, while Nike is providing the accessible viewing platform, and Kia Australia is generously donating a car to support the Dylan Alcott Foundation.

Tickets are affordably priced at $60, and carers or support workers can enter for free with a companion card, making it easier than ever for everyone to attend and enjoy the event.

With an expected turnout of around 5,000 people in Brisbane, Ability Fest is set to be an amazing day for music lovers and advocates of inclusivity alike.
