Brodie Doyle and Dave Reardon-Smith take out HIF Masters and Women's on the Gold Coast

Coolum’s Dave Reardon-Smith and Snapper Rocks’ Brodie Doyle are on a high today after taking out the blue-ribbon division of the HIF Queensland Masters and Women’s at Palm Beach on the Gold Coast.
Today was the second and final day of the event and competitors were met with clean and contestable waves at 7th Ave, Palm Beach for their run into the finals of the first of a two-event series that will ultimately decide the Queensland team that will compete at the 2014 Australian Titles.
Snapper Rocks’ Brodie Doyle took no prisoners throughout her finals campaign, even adding her twin sister, Amiya to her list of scalps before convincingly taking out a testing Open Women’s final with a combined-wave total of 12.84 over Sophie McCulloch (Alexandra Headland, QLD – 10.60), Stacey Holt (Point Lookout, QLD – 8.03) and Ellie Brooks (Elanora, QLD – 6.44) respectively.
McCulloch maybe have placed second in the final however she managed to pocket the $250 HIF “Wave of the weekend” prize after posting the highest single wave total of all female divsions, a 9.17.
In the Over 35 Men’s division a clash between the new and old school’s saw division-rookie Dave Reardon-Smith victorious with a series of aerial maneuvers to take out the final and, in doing so, win an HIF “Wave of the weekend” prize of his own.
Reardon-Smith posted a combined-wave total of 17.77 in the final to defeat 2013 series champion, Mark Richardson (Currumbin, QLD – 12.77), Damien Healy (Broadbeach, QLD – 12.36) and Trevor Gleave (Coolangatta, QLD – 10.64).
The HIF Masters and Women’s Series will now head to the Sunshine Coast 14-15 June for the second and final event, where the Queensland team will be selected for Nationals and, in the Open Women’s Division, the highest rated surfer at series’ end will take home a wildcard into the 2015 Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) Roxy Pro.

Over 50 Men – Clive Sinton (Moffat Beach, QLD)
Over 55 Men – David Cousins (Sunrise Beach, QLD)
