Carissa Moore and Griffin Colapinto showcased their exceptional surfing skills and claimed victory at the Surf Ranch Pro Presented by 805 Beer, Stop No. 6 on the World Surf League 2023 Championship Tour. The thrilling event took place in Lemoore, Calif., where a large crowd of enthusiastic surf fans gathered to witness the action. With their remarkable wins, Moore and Colapinto have now taken the lead in the rankings, solidifying their positions as top contenders in the world of professional surfing. Caroline Marks and Italo Ferreira also delivered outstanding performances, earning well-deserved runner-up finishes.

As the Surf Ranch Pro concludes, the focus of the world’s best surfers now shifts to Central America, where they will prepare for the upcoming Surf City El Salvador Pro Presented by Corona, Stop No. 7 on the 2023 Championship Tour. With only four more events remaining before the highly anticipated Rip Curl WSL Finals, the competitors are feeling the pressure to secure a spot in the WSL Final 5.

Carissa Moore, a five-time World Champion, achieved her second Surf Ranch Pro victory and her third CT event win of the season. Moore has been having an exceptional year, showcasing her talent and determination. With this win, she reclaims the coveted yellow Leader jersey as she heads into the Surf City El Salvador Pro. Today’s triumph adds to Moore’s extensive list of accomplishments, including a Gold Medal at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo and her 28th CT victory. Currently ranking as the No. 1 surfer, Moore is well on her way to qualifying for the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris and securing a place in the WSL Final 5.

Overflowing with joy, Moore expressed her gratitude and excitement for the opportunity to share the podium with her fellow surfers. She highlighted the importance of performing to the best of one’s potential and emphasized the happiness and presence she felt during the event. Moore also acknowledged the challenge of riding the perfect yet difficult waves of the Surf Ranch, but through perseverance and determination, she emerged triumphant.

During the Final, Moore set the standard with an excellent score of 8.60 on her first right wave, applying significant pressure to Caroline Marks, one of the sport’s rising stars. Marks needed an exceptional performance to turn the tide in her favor, but unfortunately fell short on her final attempt, solidifying Moore’s victory.

Griffin Colapinto, on the other hand, achieved his first CT event win of the season with an extraordinary display of skill and determination. Colapinto left everything in the water, reserving his best performance for the Final against 2019 World Champion Italo Ferreira. The crowd was on the edge of their seats as Ferreira and Colapinto engaged in an exhilarating wave-for-wave battle. Colapinto started strong, posting an excellent score of 8.70, followed by a backup score of 7.83. Ferreira took the lead with his own impressive scores of 8.70 and 8.13. However, Colapinto delivered a near-perfect score of 9.70 when he needed it the most, securing his well-deserved victory.

An elated Colapinto expressed his profound joy at winning a CT event in his hometown of California. He emphasized the equal opportunities presented to all competitors at the Surf Ranch and acknowledged the immense physical effort required to excel in the sport. Colapinto’s relentless hard work paid off, and he expressed gratitude for the support of his friends and family present at the event. The intense Final and the competition with Italo Ferreira left Colapinto overjoyed and appreciative of the victory. He was pleasantly surprised to learn that he had taken the top spot in the rankings, marking a significant milestone in his surfing career.

The Surf Ranch itself is a unique and immersive surf lifestyle experience located in the middle of farm fields in Central California, over 100 miles away from the ocean.
