Today we chat with Gold Coast singer-songwriter Eleea Navarro as she releases the music video for her track ‘Save Me’. Eleea is a 20 year old singer and musician with a mature sound, captivating skills and an innate gift for songwriting. Eleea’s new video is one you won’t want to miss!” Out of all your tracks from your album Human Why did you choose to make a music video for Save Me? The producer, Alyson Peck, listened to my album “Human” and really connected with Save Me. How did you come up with the concept of the video? Well it was funny… I wrote this song when I was about 15, and I based it on homelessness and the concept of getting down and not being able to get back up again, and needing some compassion. However, music is an amazing art form that can be interpreted so many different ways. This was obvious when Alyson actually saw it as kind of a love triangle. My role in the video is purposefully ambiguous, but basically I’m on the outskirts of a sweet relationship and I’m wanting to be loved – which essentially ties in with the reason I wrote it as well. Where was the clip filmed? It was filmed in Cooma, NSW last year around July. We used some really beautiful locations – a huge farm, a big car yard… But as you can imagine at that time of year, it was FREEZING! The opening moments where I’m running through the field, it was before sunrise and it was -4 degrees. No one can ever say I don’t suffer for my art! haha. But I think the location really gave it that starkness that we were looking for and it works really well with the theme. How did you choose the team to shoot Save Me? It was pure luck! I already knew Alyson through a family friend, and she had always been kind to me with my music. She was interested in shooting a music video with a great new up-and-coming director she knew, Thomaz Labanca, and I was just lucky that she really liked my music. Basically from there we found the awesome actors, Nina Cooke and Luke Hoole and pulled all of the planning together in about 3 days, then shot it for 2. I am so fortunate to have worked with such talent for my first video, and I think that shows when you see how professional the final product turned out. What’s next for you now? I’ve had a really whirlwind year doing a lot of different things. I’ve had the opportunity to pursue my acting, through various work, and also my modelling by competing in the National Finals of Miss Universe Australia. Now my sole focus is my music again. I’ve been performing rigorously all over the place, both as a solo and a duo, which is so much fun. I’ve also been working on my second album for a while, but now I am really working hard to get it finished by the end of the year. I think that my new material will be really exciting and will show the evolution that I’ve undertaken in the last 3 years since my first album “Human” was released.
