Netflix’s high-octane thriller Extraction 3 has officially commenced production in Australia. The film brings stars Chris Hemsworth, Idris Elba and Golshifteh Farahani back for another mission, with shooting scheduled across Sydney and the South Coast over the next few months.
Director Sam Hargrave returns to helm the third chapter of the franchise, working from a screenplay by David Weil. The production boasts a massive team, produced by AGBO’s Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Angela Russo-Otstot, Michael Disco and Ari Costa, alongside Wild State’s Chris Hemsworth and Benjamin Grayson. Sam Hargrave, Patrick Newall, Eric Gitter and Peter Schwerin also produce, with Steven V. Scavelli and Shelby Malone serving as Executive Producers.
Fans of the Extraction franchise can expect a massive scale on screen. Director Sam Hargrave noted: “We’re very much looking forward to filming the third chapter in our Extraction saga here in New South Wales,” says Director Sam Hargrave. “Our goal has always been to push the boundaries of action filmmaking, and with Extraction 3, we’re taking our biggest swing yet.”
Beyond the screen, the blockbuster is set to deliver a significant boost to the local economy. The production is estimated to contribute $127 million and create 450 jobs for local technical staff and domestic cast members. Secondary industries including security, hospitality and logistics will also see substantial benefits.
