A strong cool change has arrived on the Gold Coast this afternoon, bringing relief from recent hot and humid conditions along with gusty winds and the chance of storms later today.
The south to southeasterly wind change established itself over the Gold Coast on Monday morning and is now slowly pushing north towards Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast.
Forecasters say the stronger winds will make conditions feel slightly cooler and less humid by this afternoon.
A trough and wind boundary moving through the region is expected to generate scattered storms across inland areas this evening, with some cells potentially becoming strong and severe.
Coastal areas face a 50/50 chance of seeing any rainfall from the system, leaving residents hoping the storms push far enough east to deliver some much-needed rain.
