What lead you to start out designing? My Mum was always running me up beautiful frocks and I loved looking through her magazines and pulling fabrics out of her sewing cupboard. Anything I could dream of she could make! What is your biggest achievement? Just over 10 years ago the label started with just myself, my mum and one machinist. We have now got three retail stores, an online boutique, over seventy wholesale stockists and twenty staff. Where did the name come from? Years ago when my Dad’s family migrated from Italy there was a spelling error on the passport from and our surname was therefore changed from Maiocchi to Mayocchi. I have named my label in honor of our original family name. What is your inspiration? I’m inspired by the whole world and the life it contains. Reading books, travelling, and meeting new and interesting people from fascinating cultures. Hence why many of my fabrics are sourced from Japan. Where are your garments made?
