Designers Corner with Coco Lou the Label

Designers Corner with Coco Lou the Label

Winter is in full force across Australia and if you’re anything like us we’ve been scrolling the internet for hours searching for some warmth.

Well, we’ve shortlisted a few of Australia’s hottest up and coming brands as part of our Designers Corner series that will be sure to warm up your day.

We caught up with Chloe from Coco Lou the Label to talk all things design, fashion and of course about Coco Lou.

So why don’t you tell us a little about the label?

Coco Lou launched in December 2017 with a vision of stamping out fast fashion trends that come and go and promoting slow, eco and long-lasting fashion pieces for women of all shapes and sizes.

We’ve set out the brands personal style as a more relaxed effortless feel, and our pieces are basic but versatile for all year round wear.

The brand also prides itself on being eco-friendly, ethical and sustainable giving you a conscience free shopping experience; it also wants to get people asking the questions Who, Where and How were your clothes made?

When and what led you to the realisation that you wanted to start designing?

Ever since I was a little girl I have been obsessed with fashion, most girls are I guess but I was always fashionably late to preschool and although my fashion choices as a 4-year-old probably weren’t the greatest, As my mum likes to remind me ” I always had to tell your preschool teachers that you dressed yourself”

It became apparent once I got to high school that this was something that I wanted to pursue one day.
Ten years on since leaving school and I finally worked up the courage to put myself out there by starting Coco Lou, with also the aim of hopefully making an impact on our planet.

Could you tell us a bit about the first item you designed?

The first item that I ever designed was a dress that features in our Island Daze Collection – The Palm Tie Up Dress, Who doesn’t love a dress with pockets 🙂

What does fashion mean to you?

Fashion is more than just clothing it can portray your feelings. While also being an outlet for self-expression and it can make you feel empowered.

When I choose the clothing to put on each day as well as wanting to be comfortable in what I’m wearing, it has also got to make me feel good about myself and reflect the image that I want people to see when they look at me.

How would you describe your personal style and do you see this in your collections?

My Personal style is very much what you see on Coco Lou, its Basic, Cute Tops and Shorts and Playsuits and a range of Dresses.
all Comfortable and Versatile for day to night wear.

Where can our readers get their hands on your label?

We are currently only online at www.cocolou.com.au, but we are hoping to do a few markets around the Gold Coast in the next few months so make sure you follow our socials and subscribe to our mailing list for updates.

Thanks so much for your time today Chloe it’s been a pleasure getting some insight into your brand, and we’re excited to see what’s next for the label.
