surfing, Paul Parkes proved to be too strong in the end when he locked in an 8.35 and an 8.00. “The event was all about having fun for me,” said Parkes. “I just wanted to treat it like I was having a normal surf. At the end of the heat, I decided to play a tactical game and wait it out for a good one and try and get an eight or nine. Luckily one came to me. All the guys in the heat waited patiently and didn’t hassle at all. I think we’re all past that stage where we’re trying to psych each other out for the win.” The 2013 Australian Surf Festival will wrap up tomorrow with all remaining heats and finals. All heat results, event highlight clips, images and news is available at www.australiansurffestival.com All competitors are advised to ring the event hotline (0458 247 212) by 6.45am on the days of competition to confirm location and running order.
