The Drug Aware Margaret River Pro will recommence today at 7:45 am with the Men’s Semifinals called ON in clean 4 to 6 foot (1 – 2 metre) conditions at Main Break in Western Australia.
The last stop on the Australian leg of the 2016 Samsung Galaxy WSL Championship Tour, the Drug Aware Margaret River Pro, will crown the Men’s event Champion after witnessing Tyler Wright (AUS) capture a victory on the women’s side yesterday.
“The swell came down a little more than expected, but the great thing is that the wind is coming from a great direction,” said WSL Commissioner Kieren Perrow. “East, northeast winds right now, and it is forecast to go around to the north, but we are going to try to beat that squeeze of the wind before it goes onshore. We are going to get underway at7:45 am. We are going to surf at Main Break because the Box this morning was not showing any action. It is Finals day and we have some great heats coming up.”
With only four surfers remaining in the event, the competition will witness heated match-ups as the world’s best male surfers battle for a spot in the Finals.
The men’s second Semifinal match-up will see Italo Ferreira (BRA), the 2015 WSL Rookie of the Year, against injury replacement Sebastian Zietz (HAW).
Up first will be Joel Parkinson (AUS) against compatriot Julian Wilson (AUS) for the opportunity to make the Finals.
The Drug Aware Margaret River Pro will be webcast LIVE on WorldSurfLeague.com as well as the WSL app.
