Burleigh Brewing is preparing to host Frothtoberfest on October 17, bringing what is billed as the Gold Coast’s most authentic Oktoberfest celebration to Burleigh Heads. Led by founder and head brewmaster Brennan Fielding, the event taps into deep German brewing traditions. Fielding’s own mentors trained at the Weihenstephan in Germany, recognised as the world’s oldest operating brewery dating back to 1040. They passed down the ancient brewing method known as Reinheitsgebot, which strictly dictates that only barley, hops, yeast and water can be used in the brewing process. To this day, the majority of Burleigh Brewing beers are crafted using this technique, meaning that while they are brewed in the heart of Burleigh Heads, they may as well be Bavarian.
Authentic Bavarian Flavours and Festival Tradition
For Frothtoberfest, Burleigh Brewing will feature eight German beers on tap. Complementing the beverages, attendees can enjoy mouth watering food provided by Byron Bay Pretzels, Benny’s Kitchen and Berlin Bangers. The culinary lineup includes sizzling German sausages alongside delicious, salty pretzels served with dips. Traditional German music, interactive games and the traditional keg tapping ceremony are set to entertain guests throughout the event.
Reflecting on the upcoming taphouse celebration, Fielding expressed his personal enthusiasm for the annual gathering:
“Frothtoberfest – fair to say, I’m frothing,” Fielding laughs. “It’s the best day of the year, and the atmosphere is always incredible. The pretzels are crispy, the laughs are loud and most importantly the beer is flowing. The highlight for me is the traditional keg tapping ceremony. Ticket Options
Tickets for the event are available for purchase via the Oztix website. Early bird tickets are priced at $35 and include a limited edition Frothtoberfest half-litre stein for guests to keep, filled with one of the eight German beers available on tap.
For larger parties attending together, group passes can be purchased for $210. This package covers admission for six people and includes a shareable festival pretzel served with dips.
