Acclaimed local artist Tracie Eaton has embarked on a remarkable journey that straddles the realms of art, philanthropy, and activism. Eaton has channelled the intensity of her experiences – from traversing the dusty roads of rural Queensland to hearing the heart-wrenching stories of those rescued from the sex slave industry – into creating passionate works of art. The culmination of this journey was at Hollywood’s night of nights, the Oscars. Eaton had the unique chance to be the exclusive artist commissioned to present original artworks to Oscar nominees and winners.
The ‘Destiny Gala,’ which took place at HOTA on the Gold Coast, was organised by Eaton herself. The gala was hailed by guests as the Gold Coast’s best black-tie fundraiser event. Attended by 200 prominent business people, personalities, and sports people, the event featured performances by Dami Im and Sepi Toa.
Eaton has partnered with the Australian charity, Destiny Rescue, to support its global operations to rescue child victims from trafficking and slavery. The event succeeded in raising funds for Destiny Rescue and is set to become an annual gala on the Gold Coast. Eaton has set herself the ambitious goal of raising $1 million for the charity.
Eaton is deeply committed to the cause of ending child sexual exploitation. “It is simply incomprehensible to imagine what these children have to endure, which is why I’ve made it one of my missions in life to help them,” said Eaton. Through her initiative, Art for Rescue, she aims to make a difference in the world. The funds raised by the initiative help free children from sexual slavery and keep them free.
With the average cost to free a child from these horrific conditions being less than $2,000, Eaton’s contribution to the cause is significant. As the world becomes more aware of the plight of human trafficking and sex slavery, initiatives like Art for Rescue are playing a crucial role in making a difference.
