Today we’re chatting with Georgia Dewstow-Smith from Western Australia, one of 30 remarkable women vying for the Miss Universe Australia 2025 crown, to be decided on August 15 at Crown Perth’s Grand Ballroom.
So, why don’t you start by telling us a bit about yourself?
I’m a passionate fitness coach and co-founder of Ready Freddie, a brand I’ve been building for the past 1.5 years. Before that, I spent nearly five years dancing professionally at the iconic Moulin Rouge in Paris, an experience that inspired the next chapter of my life and career. These days, when I’m not coaching group fitness or developing my brand, you’ll find me either dancing, training in the gym, or spending time with my people.
What inspired you to take the leap and enter Miss Universe Australia?
Miss Universe speaks for itself, a platform that represents strength, confidence, and grace. The opportunity to stand on that stage and proudly show what you’re made of is truly inspiring. It takes a lot of courage and self-belief to get on that stage and be vulnerable. I want young girls to be able to look up to someone like me and know that it’s okay to feel uncomfortable. In fact, get comfortable with feeling uncomfortable, I find, is one of many lessons. It’s how we grow. If I can inspire even one person to stand taller and believe in themselves, then I’m already living my purpose.
As part of the program, you had the amazing opportunity to travel to Vietnam, and stay at the beautiful Hoiana Resort. How was that experience for you?
It was such an incredible opportunity, one that not everyone gets in their lifetime, and I honestly couldn’t say a single bad word about the entire experience. It was, without a doubt, one of the most memorable trips of my life. From the moment we arrived, I was blown away. The facilities were endless, and the buffet… I’m still dreaming about it to this day!
What would you say was the highlight of the trip?
The highlight of my trip was visiting the town in Vietnam and spending time at the Hearing and Beyond school. It was a beautiful and moving experience, stepping into their world, learning how they communicate, express their knowledge, and share their incredible talents. Watching the kids play their own handcrafted games and witnessing the joy and creativity in how they connect with each other was deeply inspiring.
As part of the trip, you also took part in your official swimwear shoot with Unnecessary the Label. How was that experience for you?
The build-up to this shoot was nerve-racking. Being the last person to take part in the swimwear shoot, with the theme ‘Submerged’, had me thinking a lot. The moment I found out, I was so excited. Knowing I’d be underwater doing acrobatics was thrilling, especially since I grew up dancing and performing acrobatics most of my life.
Your next question comes from our current Miss Universe Australia, Zoe Creed. If your younger self could see you today, not just on this stage but as a person, what do you think she’d be most proud of, and why?
I think young Georgia would be most proud of her compassion and kindness. No matter where life takes her or what incredible opportunities come her way, she will always remain grounded and humble.
With everyone bringing their own unique flair to the program, what would you say sets you apart from the other contestants?
I’d say what sets me apart is my lighthearted energy and sense of humour. I love making people laugh and feel at ease, and I don’t take myself too seriously, even in high-pressure situations. While I’m deeply passionate and driven, I bring a playful, uplifting energy that reminds people to enjoy the moment. I believe confidence can be powerful and fun.
What’s something about you that people might find surprising or interesting?
I left my family in Australia at the age of 18 to pursue my dreams in Paris at the Moulin Rouge, not only to dance on the iconic stage but to get the chance to perform on the MotoGP starting grid, the opening of the Olympics, and in front of the Eiffel Tower!
If you could work on any dream project, with no limits on time or resources, what would it be?
My dream project is exactly what I’m doing now, building and growing my business. But beyond that, my goal is to reach a level of success where I can give back in a meaningful way. I want to donate to charities and support communities, especially dance schools that don’t have the funds to help kids pursue what they love. I also want to contribute to causes that provide food and basic resources to those who need it most. Giving back is a big part of why I’m building everything I’m building.
We have a few quick questions to wrap up the interview:
What’s a song that never fails to lift your mood?
Young Hearts Run Free – Candi Staton
What does confidence mean to you?
Confidence to me means being comfortable in your own skin, having a strong mindset, and most importantly being grounded. It’s not about being the loudest in the room, but about knowing who you are and owning it with grace and self-respect.
If you had to swap lives with someone for a day, who would it be and why?
I would want to swap lives with someone simply living a completely different life to mine. I think stepping into a whole new world, even just for a day, can really give you a fresh perspective and allow you to see life through a lens you might never normally experience or understand.
What’s one thing you always have in your handbag (besides your phone)?
Headphones!!
Window or aisle seat on a flight?
