Gold Coast residents preparing to vote in the 2025 federal election can now take advantage of early and pre-poll voting options, with early voting centres progressively opening from Tuesday 22 April ahead of polling day.

The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) has confirmed that early voting locations across the country—including multiple sites on the Gold Coast—will operate through to Friday 2 May. However, voters are urged to check specific opening dates, as not all early voting centres in their electorate will be available for the entire two-week period.

In line with national observances, all early voting centres will be closed on Easter Monday (21 April) and Anzac Day (Friday 25 April). The AEC recommends planning ahead to avoid inconvenience during the early voting window.

For those unable to vote in person, postal voters applications are now open. The AEC has cautioned voters to apply directly through its official platform, rather than using unsolicited forms sent by political parties or candidates. These third-party applications—often distributed via SMS, email or post—are sometimes used to collect personal data before being forwarded to the AEC, potentially delaying processing and compromising privacy.

To ensure timely delivery of ballot papers and maintain data confidentiality, eligible voters are advised to submit their postal vote applications via the AEC’s website as soon as possible.

For local voters, securing convenient access to early voting locations on the Gold Coast in 2025 is essential to avoid election day queues and scheduling conflicts. With early voting now underway, residents are encouraged to confirm centre locations and opening hours directly through the AEC’s official channels.
