Gold Coast City Council’s Free Tree Program is returning in 2026, offering residents the opportunity to green their properties with complimentary trees and shrubs.
Running from January to June, the program provides households across the city with up to three free trees, including a selection of native species. The plants range in size from tube stock to 200-millimetre pots, with species varying throughout the year depending on availability.
The program launches with three January collection dates, running from 8am to 2pm at convenient locations across the Gold Coast:
- 15 January – Tugun Park (near the Community Centre)
- 22 January – Reedy Creek Waste & Recycling Centre
- 29 January – Damian Leeding Memorial Park, Oxenford
Residents planning to collect trees are advised to arrive early, as distribution trucks will leave once all plants have been given away.
Each household is entitled to three free trees, subject to availability. Residents collecting trees for multiple properties must provide a current rates notice for each property to qualify for additional plants.
All trees distributed through the program must be planted on private property and cannot be planted on Council-controlled land.
The Free Tree Program represents Council’s ongoing commitment to helping residents grow greener homes while enhancing the city’s urban canopy.
For residents interested in participating, collection dates and locations will continue to be announced throughout the program’s January to June timeframe here.
