The first new train station on the Gold Coast Line in almost a decade has opened on Monday, 20 October 2025
Located along the Old Pacific Highway between Bedford Road and Mebbin Street, this station is one of three new additions being delivered to serve South East Queensland’s rapidly growing population. The completion of Pimpama station aims to provide the local community with greater access to public transport services, thereby expanding options for easy travel within the Gold Coast region and beyond to Brisbane, including the Cross River Rail project.
The delivery of the new Pimpama station means residents has meant for some service changes. To accommodate the new stop at Pimpama, there will be minor timetable changes for the Gold Coast line on Translink.Â
Additionally, local bus routes have undergone timetable and stop changes to facilitate easier access, introducing a new dedicated bus stop within the station precinct itself.
Pimpama Station Features and Design Considerations
The design of Pimpama station places a strong emphasis on access and sustainability, offering comprehensive facilities for both drivers and cyclists. The station precinct includes 380 car parks, along with ten designated accessible car parks. For commuter security and convenience, lighting and CCTV systems have been installed throughout the station area and car park. Pedestrian flow and accessibility are addressed by a pedestrian overpass, which includes lifts on each platform to ensure two-way access. Cyclists are catered to with a 40-bicycle lock-up enclosure, as well as outdoor bicycle racks.
What Now Pimpama Station is Open
The Cross River Rail Delivery Authority has taken the step of thanking the community for its patience during the construction phase of the new station. With the introduction of the new stop and associated bus changes, commuters are strongly encouraged to check their planned journeys and prepare for the service adjustments. Translink provides several resources for journey planning, including its website, mobile application, and customer service line (13 12 30).
