Shane van Gisbergen and Garth Tander have handed over the famed Peter Brock Trophy in the lead up to next month’s Great Race at Mount Panorama.
It’s been an electric twelve months for Shane van Gisbergen securing his first Bathurst win and starting the championship year with a broken collarbone to go on and secure the championship title just a fortnight before Bathurst.
In a washed-out Sydney SuperNight that saw the final race red-flagged, Van Gisbergen was gifted with an insurmountable lead heading into the Bathurst 1000, securing his second championship.
This year’s Repco Bathurst 1000 will be the biggest motorsport event in Australian history, with nine support categories on track for six days prior to the Repco Bathurst 1000 on the first Sunday in December.
Co-driver and four-time Bathurst champion Garth Tander will also be hoping he and Shane become the first drivers since Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup to win back-to-back Bathurst crowns and defend the Peter Brock Trophy.
