Last night, Netflix celebrated Australian storytelling in style, hosting its first-ever Now Streaming event at The Langham Hotel. The exclusive gathering brought together on-screen talent, industry executives, and creatives ahead of the highly anticipated 2025 AACTA Awards Gala on the Gold Coast.

The evening toasted the release of Apple Cider Vinegar, Netflix’s latest Australian production, now streaming. The star-studded affair saw series leads Alycia Debnam-Carey and Aisha Dee in attendance, alongside creator and writer Samantha Strauss, director Jeffrey Walker, and the show’s creative team and crew.

Adding to the celebrations were winners from the AACTA Industry Gala Awards, held the night before. Netflix walked away with seven awards, including six for Boy Swallows Universe—recognised for Best Casting in Television and Best Cinematography in Television—as well as Best Soundtrack for Heartbreak High.

The streaming giant is heading into the 2025 AACTA Awards with a remarkable 31 nominations, including a record-breaking 22 nominations for Boy Swallows Universe—the most ever received by a single production.

Netflix Talent Set to Shine at AACTAs

With the awards set to take place Friday at HOTA, Gold Coast, Netflix’s presence will be strong, with cast members from Boy Swallows Universe, Heartbreak High, and Territory in attendance. Apple Cider Vinegar stars Alycia Debnam-Carey and Aisha Dee will also take the stage to present the awards for Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress.

Apple Cider Vinegar Now Streaming

Alongside the celebrations, today marks the official release of Apple Cider Vinegar, a drama inspired by true events. Dubbed a “true-ish story based on a lie,” the series unpacks the rise and fall of a wellness empire—exploring the culture that built it up and the people who ultimately tore it down.

The series had its global premiere in Sydney on Monday, with stars Kaitlyn Dever, Alycia Debnam-Carey, and Aisha Dee walking the red carpet alongside the supporting cast and series creatives.

With Netflix’s growing footprint in Australian storytelling, the Now Streaming event set the stage for an exciting awards season ahead.
