Did your Instagram followers suddenly drop last night? You are certainly not alone, as reports show a noticeable reduction in followers across many accounts, ranging from small profiles to major brands and celebrities. Social media managers and creators awoke this morning to find a concerning decrease in their audience numbers. Even agency brands and client accounts experienced these unexpected drops overnight.
What is Behind the Missing Instagram Followers?
While there has been no official confirmation from Instagram as of yet, hundreds of accounts are reporting the loss of thousands of followers. The current speculation suggests that Meta conducted a mass clean up of inactive and bot accounts from the platform last night which caused a drop in your follower count.
Their was certainly a few of us brands, social media influencers and creators, all a little concerned this mroning but it is likely not something you said or did to cause the drop in followers.
