Interview with Face of Fashion week Finalist Violet Atkinson

Well today we are sitting down to chat with Violet one of the finalists of the face of fashion week who is in the mix with Ten others to be appointed the face of the QT Fashion Week and Awards 2014  in April.
Starting off with the basics who what and where inspires you most..?
I like diversity so I tend to look for inspiration in any environment. The countryside has natural beauty, the beach has a peaceful atmosphere and cities are inspirational because of the fast-paced atmosphere. As far as people, I find Miranda Kerr inspirational because she is a beautiful woman with a head on her shoulders that is always looking to further her career. Personal life aside, she is an amazing woman that knows what she wants.

If you had to describe yourself to someone in a few short words what would you say …?
I am a vibrant, talkative and driven individual always ready for a challenge.
Where would you say you find your motivation …? ?
I look for motivation within myself. We are probably the most critical of ourselves so by harnessing that negativity we can turn it around to motivate ourselves and strive for positive goals.
What would you say fashion means to you…?
To me, fashion means art, self-expression and freedom. I love how a girl has the ability to choose a fabric, cut and colour to represent her mood that day.
When did you first get started in modelling and what made you get into the industry …?
I first started around the age of 15 or 16 because first, everybody would comment on my height and lean figure (thanks to surf life saving) and second, I loved fashion and makeup so the idea of being around that was exciting. After getting a small taste for it, I had to focus on study in order to get into law school which limited my opportunities at the time, further, I did not have an agency. Now that I have found a balance at University I am ready to get back into the industry.
What would you say has been a career highlight so far..?
Every fashion show is always a lot of fun. The girls and the energy backstage when you are frantically running around whilst having clothes thrown over your head is a rush! I did however have a lot of fun shooting Lalabazaar’s Summer campaign just last month.
As the Gold Coast is pretty different market how would you describe Gold Coast Fashion …?  What makes it different in your eyes …?
Our fashion is a mix of sophistication and nonchalance. One of my favourite Gold Coast brands Whitesands swimwear best represents this description by adding a sexy and sophisticated edge to a traditionally relaxed type of garment. We are different because of this willingness to combine two completely different areas. Gold Coaster’s possess the ability to combine heels with a t-shirt & shorts or kaftan combo.
What do you hope to come from your experience in the Face of Fashion week Competition…?
I am hoping to find an agency that I will fit in with. I also love meeting new people and talking to stylists, designers and makeup artists so the opportunity is also about having a great time!
 Now as a final question what makes you stand out from the other finalists of Face of Fashion Week…
At first glance all of us girls have our own individuality to offer however the Face of QT Fashion Week is an ambassadorial role as opposed to just being a ‘Face’. I am really passionate about fashion and moving the Gold Coast into the fashion limelight with the likes of Melbourne and Sydney, further I grew up on the Gold Coast and I am in my final year of law school so I have an adversarial side. Because of these traits I feel that I can best represent QT Fashion week as an ambassador.
