The Miss Universe Organization (MUO) has unveiled a captivating addition to the 72nd Annual Miss Universe competition, set to take place on November 18 in San Salvador. Multi-platinum artist John Legend, an EGOT recipient, songwriter, producer, and activist, is confirmed to perform on the grand stage. This year’s competition, produced by Sergio Alfaro’s InventTV, promises to be a unique blend of talent and glamour.
Paula Shugart, president of the Miss Universe Organization and the program’s executive producer, expressed her excitement about John Legend’s involvement. She recalled their meeting during the 2010 Miss Universe, where Legend performed with The Roots, and spoke of her admiration for his music and philanthropic endeavors. Shugart believes that Legend will elevate the event to new heights with his special performance.
“I first met John when he performed at Miss Universe in 2010 with The Roots. I have been a huge fan ever since, both of his music and his charity and social impact work. I know he’ll bring something very special to our stage, and will take the event to a whole new level.” Paula said.
John Legend, a 12-time Grammy Award-winner renowned for his contributions to soul, R&B, gospel, and pop music, is expected to deliver a memorable performance at this year’s Miss Universe. His platinum debut album, “Get Lifted,” garnered three Grammy Awards, marking the beginning of a remarkable career. With eight studio albums and a plethora of hit singles to his name, Legend’s presence on the Miss Universe stage promises to be a musical highlight of the evening.
The 72nd Miss Universe is scheduled to take place in El Salvador on November 18th, 2023. The competition, along with its live performances, will be available for streaming on The Roku Channel and broadcast on Telemundo within the United States.
