In a highly charged start to the year, and with a new format for the World Surf League that has seen some of the best of the best move surprisingly into the second round underway now at Duranbah.

Has just seen a massive moment with 11x World Champion Kelly Slater eliminated in the second round heat with Owen Wright and Peterson Crisanto.

The heat was a mix of waves with Owen and Peterson sticking to the South of Duranbah and Slater searching for waves in another area of the break and just not finding them with a few lower scores and eventually the clock just running out.

Kelly’s focus now will switch to Bells Beach later this month, with a certain new focus and fire to drive a fresh start for the CT season for the G.O.A.T

Slater will be bundled out in third place of the heat, with Peterson and Owen advancing to the Third round.
