Kymberlee Street - Miss Universe Australia 2025 Finalist Interview

Today we’re chatting with Kymberlee Street from New South Wales, one of 30 remarkable women vying for the Miss Universe Australia 2025 crown

Today we’re chatting with Kymberlee Street from New South Wales, one of 30 remarkable women vying for the Miss Universe Australia 2025 crown, to be decided on August 15 at Crown Perth’s Grand Ballroom.

So, why don’t you start by telling us a bit about yourself?

I’m a full-time model and multi-passionate creative who wears a few hats. Founder of Model Street, where I mentor the next generation of models. Founder of Defence Skincare, a brand built on clean, feel-good skin solutions, and I recently launched a podcast called Models Off Duty, where I dive into conversations about life, growth and secrets behind the spotlight. Outside of work, I’m an adrenaline junkie, a big-time foodie, and someone who’s always chasing new adventures, whether that’s in business, travel, or life.

What inspired you to take the leap and enter Miss Universe Australia?

I joined Miss Universe Australia because I see it as an incredible opportunity to push myself to new heights and connect with like-minded women who are passionate about creating a positive impact. It would be a dream to represent Australia with pride, showcasing the strength, confidence and diversity of women from all walks of life. This platform allows me to amplify my voice, share my story and create meaningful change. I aim to inspire others to embrace their uniqueness and pursue their passions.

As part of the program, you had the amazing opportunity to travel to Vietnam, and stay at the beautiful Hoiana Resort. How was that experience for you?

It was honestly unforgettable. Vietnam’s culture, warmth, and beauty blew me away. The Hoiana Resort was stunning. From the facilities to restaurants, rooms and golf course, every space was beautifully designed and world class. Not to mention the hospitality of the staff was next level, so kind, welcoming, and always went out of their way to make us feel at home. It was also my first time in Vietnam, and certainly not my last. I’m already missing the sunsets and having pho for breakfast every day!

What would you say was the highlight of the trip?

It’s so hard to choose! I’m grateful for all the experiences from bonding with the girls, having walking workshops with Thelma and doing the course with NIDA, visiting Hearing & Beyond and spending time with the children was the highlight for me. It was such a heartwarming experience that I’ll never forget. The kids welcomed us with open arms and even taught us how to sign. It was a beautiful reminder that connection goes far beyond words. It was incredibly humbling and meaningful to be part of something so special.

As part of the trip, you also took part in your official swimwear shoot with Unnecessary the Label. How was that experience for you?

It was such a cool and refreshing experience. I’m so used to shooting swimwear outdoors or on the beach, so creating this vision indoors was something new and I loved it. The style and colour of my Unnecessary swimwear was perfect, and working with such a talented and creative team made it even more special. I felt right in my element and it was exciting to see the concept come to life in such a unique way.

Your next question comes from our current Miss Universe Australia, Zoe Creed. If your younger self could see you today, not just on this stage but as a person, what do you think she’d be most proud of, and why?

She’d be proud that I didn’t let fear or self-doubt hold me back. I used to second-guess myself a lot and often compared where I was to others. But over time, I learned to trust my journey and focus on being just 1% better every day. My younger self would be proud that I’ve stepped into who I truly am and that I now use my voice to help others do the same, whether it’s through coaching aspiring models or sharing my own story. More than anything, she’d be proud that I never gave up on becoming the woman she needed to see.

With everyone bringing their own unique flair to the program, what would you say sets you apart from the other contestants?

I believe what sets me apart is not just authenticity, because everyone brings their true selves, but how intentional I am with everything I do. I’ve faced the ups and downs of the modelling industry and I’m passionate about using those lessons to support and empower others, especially new and aspiring models. It’s this combination of personal experience, purposeful action and positivity that I carry with me in everything I do.

What’s something about you that people might find surprising or interesting?

Something people might find surprising is that I grew up playing piano and violin, and I even had the incredible opportunity to perform violin at the Sydney Opera House. The years of lessons taught me discipline, patience, and how to express myself in different ways. Plus, it’s always fun to surprise people with a hidden talent!

If you could work on any dream project, with no limits on time or resources, what would it be?

I’d love to create a global mentorship platform for young women, especially those from underrepresented communities, focused on building confidence, mental health, and career skills. It would be a safe space where they can access resources, connect with mentors, and find a supportive community that reminds them of their worth, no matter their background. With unlimited resources, I’d include workshops, scholarships, and real-world opportunities to help these women find their passions and turn their dreams into reality. My goal is to empower the next generation to lead with confidence, strength, and compassion.

We have a few quick questions to wrap up the interview:

What’s a song that never fails to lift your mood?
Miss Independent by Ne-Yo. Instant mood booster!

What does confidence mean to you?
Confidence is believing in your worth and abilities even when things feel uncertain. It’s being comfortable in your own skin, owning your story, and showing up authentically every day.

If you had to swap lives with someone for a day, who would it be and why?
Zendaya. She’s an icon and extremely talented. Plus, I’ve heard we look alike, so it would be interesting to see the world through her eyes for a day!

What’s one thing you always have in your handbag (besides your phone)?
Lip balm. I’m obsessed with keeping my lips hydrated!

Window or aisle seat on a flight?
Window seat all the way! I love seeing the view and getting uninterrupted sleep.
