Laetitia Greco - Miss Universe Australia 2024 Finalist Interview

It’s that exciting time of year again! We’re chatting with Laetitia Greco of Victoria, one of the 28 remarkable and accomplished women from diverse backgrounds vying for the title of Miss Universe Australia 2024. The winner is set to be crowned in the Grand Ballroom at Crown Perth on the 5th of September.

So, Laetitia, why don’t you start by telling us a bit about yourself?

Some people know me as @ThatAussieFilmChick because I’m all about bringing the magic of movies to life! Born and raised in Melbourne in a big (and loud) Greek and Italian family, I’m now 25 and a Campaign Marketing Executive at The Walt Disney Company. I’ve had the privilege of working on marketing campaigns for blockbuster films like The Little Mermaid and hosting red carpet interviews at various film premieres.

What inspired you to take the leap and enter Miss Universe Australia?

Years ago, when I saw Francesca Hung announced as an E! News host, it sparked something in me. I’ve been closely following the MUA program for years, and watching the journeys of past winners inspired me to step into their shoes. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to network with the best people in the business, continue building my personal brand, and drive meaningful social change.

As part of the program, you had the amazing opportunity to travel to Vietnam, courtesy of Vietjet, and stay at the beautiful Hoiana Resort. How was that experience for you?

Imagine travelling to the most incredible destination with the coolest bunch of women and the best support team! I still remember the look on everyone’s faces when we walked into Hoiana Resort & Golf – we were absolutely speechless! The entire trip, from the journey and the stunning hotel to the delicious food and serene views, was nothing short of amazing.

What would you say was the highlight of the trip?

Definitely the NIDA ‘Presenting With Confidence’ course. For anyone in the acting or presenting world, studying at NIDA is a dream come true! I now feel a much greater sense of confidence to handle those high-pressure moments on stage.

Can you describe an experience in Vietnam that pushed you out of your comfort zone?

Our golf day at Hoiana Shores Golf Club. I have to confess, I’m not exactly a golf pro – in fact, I’m pretty hopeless on the course! But thanks to the amazing trainers at the club who were incredibly patient, we all managed to improve our game while having the best time.

Your next question comes from our current Miss Universe Australia, Moraya Wilson. Imagine you’re standing on stage with the title of Miss Universe Australia 2024. What advice would you give to your younger self?

If I could give my younger self one piece of advice, it would be “Don’t be afraid to take risks – just trust yourself.” Over time, I’ve realised that life’s most rewarding experiences and self-growth come from stepping outside of your comfort zone.

With everyone bringing their own unique flair to the program, what would you say sets you apart from the other contestants?

I might be blonde, but I’m definitely not your typical Barbie doll! I hold a degree, work three jobs, and can speak French. So, my mix of brains, beauty, and talent definitely sets me apart.

What’s something about you that people might find surprising?

I’m a classically trained musician (flautist) and have performed with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.

If you could work on any dream project, with no limits on time or resources, what would it be?

I’d love to expand my film channel and travel around the world, hosting the biggest red carpets and interviewing the most iconic celebrities in the industry. You’d find me at the Cannes Film Festival, The Academy Awards, and many world film premieres.

We have a few quick questions to wrap up the interview:

If you could instantly master any skill, what would it be and why?
Gourmet cooking! I’d love to be able to impress my family and friends with some Michelin star dishes.

What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done?
Dune bashing in Dubai – it was exhilarating!

Do you have a guilty pleasure that you enjoy?
I’m obsessed with The Cookie Box (any Melburnians reading this will understand), to the point that some days I’ll drive forty minutes from my house just to get them!

If you could have any superpower for a day, what would it be and how would you use it?
I’d teleport to my favourite cities around the world and indulge in the ultimate food adventure – from sushi in Tokyo to gelato in Rome, ending with a late-night souvlaki in Mykonos.
