Lay Day at Billabong Pro Tahiti

TEAHUPO’O, Tahiti (Wednesday, August 19, 2015) – With only small and fading surf on offer at Teahupo’o, event organizers have called a lay day at the Billabong Pro Tahiti, Stop No. 7 on the Samsung Galaxy World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour (CT). “It’s pretty miserable here today and conditions aren’t great,” Kieren Perrow, WSL Commissioner said. “It’s a lot smaller today and the wind’s been blowing onshore all night along with a lot of rain so the ocean is really jumbled up. We won’t be running any heats today and we’ll come back tomorrow and take another look. “. When competition resumes, up first will be Josh Kerr (AUS) and Adrian Buchan (AUS) in Heat 9 of Round 3. Event organizers will reconvene tomorrow at 7 a.m. local time to assess conditions and make a call for competition. Surfline, official forecaster for the World Surf League, are calling for: Small southerly swell leftovers prevail for at least the first half of Wednesday with onshore SSW to S wind. Thursday will see a pick up in shorter period S swell as unfavorable S to SSE wind prevails. Friday will see a building trend of mid size, mid period S swell as trades swing more to the SE. The surf will likely back down over the weekend as swell direction trends more to the SSE/SE. Building, long period SW swell fills in through Monday and continues Tuesday and should offer the strongest and most well groomed surf of the event waiting period.     The Billabong Pro Tahiti runs from Friday, August 14 to Tuesday, August 25, 2015 and is webcast LIVE at WorldSurfLeauge.com and via the WSL mobile app.]]>
