Lexie Brant - Miss Universe Australia 2025 Finalist Interview

Today we’re chatting with Lexie Brant from Queensland, one of 30 remarkable women vying for the Miss Universe Australia 2025 crown

Today we’re chatting with Lexie Brant from Queensland, one of 30 remarkable women vying for the Miss Universe Australia 2025 crown, to be decided on August 15 at Crown Perth’s Grand Ballroom.

So, why don’t you start by telling us a bit about yourself?

I’m currently completing my degree in Occupational Therapy, with graduation just around the corner. Alongside my studies, I work as a medical secretary for an orthopaedic surgeon, which gives me such a valuable perspective on the healthcare world. I love staying active, spending time outdoors, and surrounding myself with people who lift me up. I’d say I’m someone who’s always seeking balance between career, self-care, and meaningful connection.

What inspired you to take the leap and enter Miss Universe Australia?

For me, entering Miss Universe Australia was about doing something original and intentionally outside my comfort zone. I wanted to challenge myself, not only in how I present myself physically, but also in how I carry myself emotionally and mentally. The program has helped me stay curious, aware of the world around me, and committed to growing into the most well-rounded version of myself. It’s been just as much about inner confidence as it has been about outer presentation.

As part of the program, you had the amazing opportunity to travel to Vietnam, and stay at the beautiful Hoiana Resort. How was that experience for you?

The Vietnam experience was nothing short of unforgettable. It was beautiful, busy, challenging, and full of growth. From early mornings to late nights, we were constantly on the go, but the energy was electric. We were also lucky enough to undertake invaluable training from NIDA courses to runway walking workshops, neither of which, in my wildest dreams, did I think I would be involved in! Being surrounded by such strong, intelligent, and inspiring women made me feel incredibly proud to be part of this group. I left Vietnam feeling more confident, more connected, and more capable in how I present myself and engage with the world.

What would you say was the highlight of the trip?

Visiting Hearing & Beyond was easily one of the most moving experiences I’ve ever had. We had the chance to meet some of the most bright, joyful, and resilient children, many of whom are deaf or hard of hearing, and witness the powerful impact of inclusive education and therapy.
From the moment I walked in, I felt an emotional connection that transcended language. It reminded me why I’m passionate about creating a world where everyone feels seen, heard, and supported. I’m so grateful to Miss Universe Australia and ToyBox Australia for making that moment possible. It will stay with me forever.

As part of the trip, you also took part in your official swimwear shoot with Unnecessary the Label. How was that experience for you?

It was honestly one of the most uplifting shoots I’ve ever done. I was definitely a little nervous to begin with, but the team’s warmth and support instantly put me at ease. I felt beautiful, strong, and truly empowered in my own skin. There was no pressure to be anything other than myself, and that allowed me to really lean into confidence. It was a powerful reminder that beauty radiates from within.

Your next question comes from our current Miss Universe Australia, Zoe Creed. If your younger self could see you today, not just on this stage but as a person, what do you think she’d be most proud of, and why?

She honestly wouldn’t believe it. Growing up, I was the quiet girl, the one watching from the sidelines, never the first to raise her hand or speak up. I think she’d be proud that I stopped shrinking myself to fit into spaces and finally started stepping into the ones I was meant for. Not just entering Miss Universe Australia, but showing up with confidence, with kindness, and fully as myself. I think she’d be proud that I didn’t wait to be chosen, I chose myself.

With everyone bringing their own unique flair to the program, what would you say sets you apart from the other contestants?

I bring a grounded and purpose-driven perspective to the program. I’m someone who has worked hard to build a life I’m proud of outside of the competition, through my studies, my work, and my personal growth. I know who I am and where I’m headed, and I see Miss Universe Australia as a way to amplify that, not define it. I feel incredibly lucky to be part of something so dynamic while staying true to my roots.

What’s something about you that people might find surprising or interesting?

People are often surprised to find out how obsessed I am with Formula 1! I love the strategy, precision, and mental toughness involved in the sport. It’s such a powerful combination of focus, performance, and resilience, all things I value in my own journey too.

If you could work on any dream project, with no limits on time or resources, what would it be?

I’d open a florist, and not just any florist, but one that also serves as a calming, sensory wellness space. Flowers have always brought me joy. There’s something about their colour, scent, and delicacy that instantly lifts your mood. I’d love to create a space where people could come not only for the beauty of fresh blooms but for the experience of feeling grounded, peaceful, and connected to something soft and real.

We have a few quick questions to wrap up the interview:

What’s a song that never fails to lift your mood?
“Life is a Highway” by Rascal Flatts. That Cars movie scene lives rent-free in my head, and I’ve played this song at pretty much every major moment in my life.

What does confidence mean to you?
Confidence means showing up as your full self, flaws, strengths, and everything in between. It’s about being authentic in every interaction and owning your space without needing permission.

If you had to swap lives with someone for a day, who would it be and why?
My grandmother. I would love to experience her dreams, challenges, and joy firsthand, especially growing up during such a different and turbulent time. I think we can learn so much from the women who came before us.

What’s one thing you always have in your handbag (besides your phone)?
Lip liner — it completely transforms my face and makes me feel put together in an instant.

Window or aisle seat on a flight?
Always the window. There’s something so exciting about looking out over the ocean and getting a bird’s-eye view of the world.
