Residents in South East Queensland are being urged to take immediate precautions as a local fire ban has been declared across several regions due to heightened fire conditions.
From 00:01hrs Thursday 2 October until 23:59 Tuesday 7 October, all open fires are strictly prohibited in the following Local Government Areas:
- Somerset
- Lockyer Valley
- Ipswich
- Logan
- Scenic Rim
This measure has been introduced to reduce the risk of bushfires during a period of increased fire danger. As part of the ban, all Permits to Light Fire issued within these regions have been suspended for the duration of the ban.
What This Means for Residents
During this fire ban, the following activities are not permitted:
- Lighting open fires of any kind
- Using fire pits or campfires in outdoor spaces
- Conducting any activity that requires a previously issued fire permit
Residents are urged to follow these directives to support the safety of their communities and reduce the risk of fire outbreaks.
