Harbour Town Premium Outlets is gearing up for a major transformation with an exciting new development. The popular shopping destination has announced plans for a $7 million upgrade to rejuvenate the Southern mall, turning it into a premium, modern destination for shoppers.
The Convenience Mall Upgrade, as it’s been named, will span the length from JB Hi-Fi to the Fruit Market, extending to the area adjacent to the Harbour Town Eats water fountain. This significant enhancement to the Centre’s infrastructure and aesthetics aims to harmonise the oldest section of the Centre with the rest of the open-air space’s modern, biophilic design elements.
Construction is set to kick off in the first week of June, with an anticipated completion date in late November 2024. This timetable marks a rapid but carefully planned transformation of the Centre’s busiest entrance. “We are excited to give the Southern part of the Centre the upgrade it deserves,” said Greg Day, Centre Manager. “This is the busiest entrance to the Centre, and our customers deserve a premium experience, just as they do when entering via Harbour Town Eats.”
The renovation project will introduce two new dining and food kiosks, revitalised flooring, enhanced landscaping, more seating and shade, and a picturesque courtyard outside Woolworths, replacing the existing fountain. These changes are part of a comprehensive strategy to provide a seamless experience for shoppers and tenants alike during the upgrade.
Day also emphasised the importance of minimising disruption to both shoppers and retailers during construction. “We have strategised the least disruptive way around this project, unfolding in three phases and putting mid-height hoardings in place to not affect tenant sightlines,” he said.
Retailers will remain open throughout the duration of the construction, ensuring that business carries on as usual while the Centre undergoes its transformation. Renderings of the Convenience Mall upgrade will be prominently displayed on hoardings around the site, offering shoppers a glimpse into the exciting future of Harbour Town Premium Outlets.
