If you are travelling on the G-Link tram network this May, it is time to plan your evening journeys carefully. Due to essential Stage 3 integration works, light rail services will experience major disruptions throughout the month. On selected nights, trams will stop running after 6pm, and buses will step in to replace all services.

This is the latest stages of testing as they ready to open stage 3 to Burleigh heads to commuters later this year.

What to expect during Light Rail disruptions

While the shift from trams to buses might add a minor hurdle to your evening commute, the transition is designed to be straightforward. Replacement buses will operate according to the regular tram timetable. However, it is highly recommended that you allow extra travel time and plan ahead to avoid being caught out.

When looking for your bus, head to the designated replacement bus stop at your usual station. You can easily locate these stops on station maps by looking for a green bus icon.

Affected dates and times 18th May through to 31 May

The service changes are strictly limited to evening operations. Disruptions will begin at 6pm and last until the end of service on the following dates in May 2026:

  • 18, 19, 20, and 21 May.
  • 24, 25, 26, and 27 May.
  • 31 May.

There is one exception to the standard schedule. On 22 May, the disruptions will run from 6pm until 5am the next morning on 23 May.
