Worn by the likes of Katy Perry and Mila Kunis, Marlies Dekkers is responsible for some of the coolest bras this season.
Marlies Dekkers kicked off QT Fashion Week and Awards last night on the Gold Coast with her collection celebrating ‘innerwear as outwear’.
The Dutch designer certainly pleased the crowd as she showcased her new winter collection.
The dark array of blacks, navy’s, purple’s, red’s and gold’s combined with the coiffed hair and dark eye makeup was the perfect assortment to match her winter collection.
Bernadette Cliff a behind the scenes hairdresser from Toni and Guy said: “the hair is organic and strong to match the strong lines of the lingerie”.
Ms Dekkers collection is the first of many collections to be showcased in QT Fashion Week.
Established designers are all vying for the “Best Established Designer 2013” award which will be nominated by the people and announced at the end of the week.
Fashion guru, Elizabeth McMahon also demonstrated her fashion prowess in the SpaQ Fashion Showcase last night.
The self proclaimed “fashion doctor” provided tips to staying fashionable throughout the cold months and discussed dressing to match body types.
Ms McMahon, founder of Elisasi Fashion Styling based on the Gold Coast said: “It’s good to see the Gold Coast supporting fashion with this event…we need to prove that we are not just about thongs and shorts… we need to break through that stereotype”.
The SpaQ fashion parade featured local designers from the Gold Coast and Brisbane including Tara Fletcher’s ‘Love ST’, Emma Milikins and Vanessa Hoe’s ‘When Freddie met Lilly’ Bridal collection.
Natalie Boyd, Manager of SpaQ for QT Hotel said: “It’s very exciting for the Gold Coast to hold such a great event showcasing lots of beautiful local designers”
Ms Boyd said: “fashion is not just about looking good it is also about taking care of yourself”.
SpaQ offer a range of services including massages, facial therapies, body exfoliation, sunless tanning, manicures, pedicures, waxing and brow and lash grooming.
Last-night’s event was certainly a fun filled event of fashion, beauty and champagne rolled into one.
QT Fashion week has just begun and over the next couple of days has a jam packed schedule.
QT Hotel is hosting a Fashion High Tea today at 11:00am followed by Nomiki Glynatsis Installation Show at 8:00pm that promises a runway show with a difference.
