It’s been a staple of the Aussie food delivery scene for two decades, but the sun is setting on Menulog.
The parent company, global giant Just Eat Takeaway.com, has made the difficult, strategic decision to pull the plug on its operations down under. While Menulog has a proud history stretching back 20 years, it appears the platform has recently been “navigating challenging circumstances”.
So, why the abrupt goodbye? The company explained that this closure is a strategic decision designed to accelerate growth and investments in other markets. Essentially, Just Eat Takeaway is choosing to focus its energy and resources elsewhere to deliver the best possible experience for its customers, partners, and couriers internationally.and Transition
This is certainly tough news for the people involved. The shutdown will directly impact approximately 120 employees. Menulog stressed that they are fully supporting these workers, providing generous redundancy packages that are “above legal requirements,” along with outplacement support to help them land on their feet.
Morten Belling, the Managing Director of Menulog, acknowledged the gravity of the announcement, stating, “Today is a tough day for the Menulog business and I would like to reassure everyone this decision was not taken lightly”.
The Clock is Ticking
If you’re a loyal Menulog user, here’s what you need to know about the wind-down timeline: Menulog will no longer accept orders from midnight, Wednesday, 26 November 2025.
