Congratulations on making it so far in the coveted Miss Universe Australia competition tell us a little about yourself …!
THANK YOU! Very much! My name is Briden Starr. I’m a Sydney girl born and bred! I’m also a Youth ambassador for “Stop Youth Suicide” and the Daily Telegraphs “Stop The Trolls” campaign against online bullying.
Who inspires you most ….?
Tricky question! I meet normal every day people who inspire me in so many different ways! However the person who has been my biggest inspiration throughout my life is definitely my Mum! She is such an incredibly humble and strong woman!
What do you do for a living ….?
I am a performing arts teacher at The Village Performing Arts Centre.
Speaking of Work – Where is your favourite place to kick up your heels after a hard day of work …?
If the sun is still out then definitely the beach!
And what does your ideal day of rest and relaxation entail …?
Relaxing on the sand, feeling the sun on my skin and the smell of the salt water. Or in winter, it’s curled up on the couch, drinking tea and either reading a good book or being completely hooked into a Disney movie! (I’m a big kid at heart!)
Including your favourite chill out music …?
John Butler Trio, Jack Johnson, Sam Smith or any acoustic tracks!
And how would you say your work if at all has prepared you for the Miss Universe Australia Competition…?
As a performer I do a lot of live performances. This gives me a little bit of extra confidence in front of an audience and I work a lot with kids! As Miss Universe I feel it is really important to “give back” in this world. With my work I do a lot of charity performances and especially love visiting children’s hospitals. I feel this is a huge eye opener to the small nerves or the knock backs we receive everyday in this industry.
What is something people might find interesting about yourself..?
As well as modeling I sing, dance and act. I’m also very adventurous and love doing activities like rock climbing, ice skating, surfing, snorkeling etc. I’m also a slight tomboy at heart. I love soccer, basketball and playing Xbox!
How would you describe your personal Style…?
My personal style changes to suit my mood. One day I’ll have my designer heels with my dress and leather jacket then the next day I’ll have my denim shorts on, a t-shirt and probably no shoes at all!
Talking of style who is your favourite designer or brand …?
Tough question! I love so many! I’m also a huge fan of Australian designers. I love supporting our Australian brands eg- Alex Perry, Bec & Bridge, Rachel Gilbert and especially our little boutique brands!
And what does your beauty & fitness regime consist of …? (ie your best tips and tricks)
I’m obsessed with Pilates at the moment. I do Pilates at least once a week. I also work out at All Sorts 24 hour gym usually every second day. And try and fit in yoga wherever possible!
I exfoliate everyday and drink lots of water! (a cheeky coffee scrub here and there as well!)
Where do you see the Miss Universe Journey taking you …?
I would love to take this competition all the way. It would honestly be a dream come true for me. I believe that I have the true, down-to-earth spirit of Australia and I think I could represent our beautiful country well in the Miss Universe finals!
We all have a favourite saying or personal mantra what would you say is yours..?
“No pressure, no diamonds!”
“Never a failure, always a lesson”
And what are the five things in your life you just can’t live without …?
Family, friends, the beach, music and mashed potato! (my favorite)
