Intimate and charming, Old Tom’s lies subtly among the newly refurbished Broadbeach mall. Upon entering the welcoming staff guide you through the venue and offer a seat for casual dining at the bar, or opt for a more romantic scene within the restaurant.
The dim candlelight and the funky, old-worldly tunes give Old Tom the resemblance of an old-fashioned yet classy speakeasy. Standing proudly behind the bar, the dedicated Gin Bar which is the feature of the venue. The service was friendly and warm, and the knowledge of the bar staff made the decision for selecting a cocktail very easy.
During my experience of Old Tom’s Broadbeach, I selected to seat at the bar for a better vantage point of the cocktail shaking and stirring. The menu included an extensive beverage list and well thought out cocktail menu. I was pleasantly surprised with the bartender offered to make me a specialized drink based on my preference resulting in the perfect mixture of sweet and sour for my pallet.
Food options are defined, however, the care and details that went into producing the menu are obvious. Every item has been well thought out and included complex and imaginative elements and flavours. Ordering a selection of items from both the bar menu and a la carte menu, I was pleasantly surprised with the abundance of flavour in every dish. Special mention to the Taramasalata and Wagyu Beef. Not only was the food beautiful, but it was delivered by the cooks and chefs with a perfect description of the dish we were about to devour. This was a lovely and personal approach that I have not witnessed in another establishment in QLD before.
Old Tom’s is a fine choice for birthday parties, romantic evenings, a casual cocktail between friends or colleagues. The atmosphere is a new and welcome addition to Broadbeach.
