Preparations well underway for Miss Universe Australia Finals

It’s almost that time of year again when
The Sofitel Melbourne on Collins will hold the national finals of Miss Universe Australia. Today we chat with some of the QLD beauties who are in the middle their preparations for the Pageant with a combination of beauty regimes, public speaking, health and fitness amongst the items in the schedule before they hit the stage in Melbourne ready to become the next Miss Universe Australia.
To follow in the footsteps of previous winners such as Jennifer Hawkins, Rachael Finch and Jesinta Campbell,
Queensland girl Madeline Cowe maintains that there’s a lot more to it than meets the eye. “Never having competed in a pageant before I couldn’t believe how much there actually is to do to prepare!
There is a lot of physical preparation, so keeping a fit and healthy body is very important, which I maintain by regular jogs every day and Pilates for at least 40 minutes most days. Eating healthy is a big part of maintaining a healthy body as well, so being so close to the nationals most sugary foods have been cut out of my diet! Getting my skin looking fresh and glowing I have been using all my new skincare products from one of MUA’s amazing sponsors , Elucent Whitening Skincare, that really do make your skin just look amazing. Then there is the mental element so I’m really trying to keep up to date with all the news nationally and internationally and working on my public speaking.”
But, of course, how could we forget the gowns? The girls have been busily preparing their outfits, with sponsor Novo shoes providing beautiful footwear. On the gowns, the girls kept their designs pretty quiet, but MUA finalist Danni Johnson has told us a little bit about her outfit plans.
“Belluccio in Melbourne are custom making my dream gown for the National Finals. It’s probably the highlight of the week for me, and what I’m most looking forward to. Entering Miss Universe has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl, so to be stepping out in a dress that really excites me is going to be a very memorable moment for me. Belluccio designed the winning gown for the current Miss Universe Australia, Olivia, so I know I’m in good hands!”
In amongst all of the excitement and preparations for the Miss Universe finals, the girls do take a moment to relax … every now and then! Silka Kurzak believes that it’s extremely important to take some time to kick back.
“I like to clean believe it or not! When everything is clean around me, I feel as though my mind is clear and free from clutter. Retail therapy always does the trick, I can never go past Novo without having a peak! But if all else fails, a hot bubble path with a good book, is perfect! Especially in these cooler months.”

The finals in Melbourne hold a lot of excitement, with one of the beautiful contestants to be selected as the Australian representative in the Miss Universe competition. These stunning women will grace the stages on June 6^th in Melbourne.
