Nick Galea is one of the hottest dance music artists in Australia right now and we are lucky enough to have him take time out from his hectic schedule to ask a few questions.
Hi Nick it’s great to be able to sit down and have a chat, it’s been a big year for you, tell us what you have been getting up to?
I have been working on a few new singles so that takes up plenty of my time, so basically I have just been in the studio fulltime and performing around the place, I’m also a resident DJ at The Met in Brisbane each week so that also keeps me fairly busy.
Your Track ‘’I believe feat Amba Shepard” was recently used as a neighbours backing track, how do you feel about that?
Unbelievably Awesome, It’s not every day you get to see something you have spent so much time and hard work on used in a way like that, I fact I think that I’m the first Queensland artist to have a song featured on Channel 10, which makes it all that much more exciting!
What were your thoughts when just after one week your track “I Believe” shot to #2 on the ARIA Club Chart?
AWSOME! It’s an amazing feeling being able to achieve something like that.
What are the best events you’ve played at?
There all great in their own way, but the one I feel that stands out was Big Day Out, the people and the atmosphere were just unbelievable.
What do you do outside of the dance music scene?
I love to restore older cars, not many people know that, In particular like to work on older Mini’s, I I drive around in a 1960 Mini that I restored myself.
Who are your musical Influences?
U2, Duran Duran, Ivan Goth, Axwell, Pryda (Eric Prydz), Sebastian Ingrosso.
What’s your favourite tune of all time?
Danny Howells and Dick Trevor Feat. Erire – Breathe
What advice would you give to up and coming Dj’s?
Work hard, work hard, work hard! Stay Focused, persistence, practice, and meet and greet any- one and everyone, It’s all about self promotion in this buisness!
What goes through your mind when developing a new track?
Personally I like to see what’s going on at the current time, what I like hearing and what people are going mad for and then I go from there.
What do you feel has been your highest achievement in your career so far?
Equally having ‘I Believe’ reach #2 on the Aria charts and having it feature on Channel 10’s Neighbours.
What should we expect from Nick Galea in the future?
Well at the moment I am working on a couple of new Singles that are due to be released soon this year, possibly some new remixes, and possibly an album but I’m undecided at the moment.
Nick Galea – I Believe (featuring Amba Shepherd) is available on Beatport and iTunes. And be sure to keep an ear open for his new singles to be released soon!
