Today we chat with Aneta Rycombel  of Janin Australia  in our Designers Corner section giving you an insight into the workings of the Label. Who is Janin Australia Is a Gold Coast women’s wear label by Aneta Rycombel. It’s fun, feminine label with a great summer vibe. Aneta has blended her sleek European styling with a relaxed Gold Coast style to create comfortable and easy to wear dresses. Where are you from and where are you now based? I am originally from Poland and settled in Australia eight years ago. I was working for a cruise liner travelling the world and arrived in Perth and didn’t want to leave. I’ve always loved creating and fashion so I was drawn to the Gold Coast to study fashion and base my design business here. I eventually settled in Burleigh Heads and don’t plan to ever leave. When and what led you to the realisation you wanted to start designing …? Becoming a fashion designer was an unconscious thing, my life has been a journey and this has brought me here. It’s funny as I haven’t realized that for a very long time. But once my life brought me to that point, than I looked back into my past and it was like someone had opened my eyes. What was the first item you designed…? I have always been drawing clothes from when I was very little. During the boring classes at school while other girls draw flowers or random shapes I would be drawing clothes. When I was a teenager I designed my formal dress and other pieces for different occasions. I had the idea in my head since I can remember that I wanted to be a boutique owner and selling my own clothes. But the idea evolved without me realizing that I wanted to become a fashion designer. What is your favourite part of the design process..? Fabric searching, I love it!, Once I see the fabric all the ideas come into my head, what I can design with that fabric I think that fabric is the most important part of designing a dress. A lot of my time is spent sourcing unique colourful fabrics and prints. In the near future I will be creating digital prints of my own designs. What is your inspiration? I am a visual person. I see inspiration everywhere for colour palettes and graphic prints to create feminine silhouettes. I seek inspiration from the Australian lifestyle, by natural beauty, our world heritage hinterland of forests and outdoors. What does fashion mean to you? Fashion is personal and each person has their interpretation. To me fashion is mysterious and I don’t think you necessarily need to understand it; fashion is unintelligible, deep and unexpected. I don’t see fashion means you need to be a slave to fashion, throwing trendy pieces together when it may not suit you or just look wrong isn’t a good thing. How would you define your personal style? My personal style is simple and unfussy. I like accessorising with interesting jewellery pieces. In Winter I’ll accessorise with hats and scarves. I love good leather shoes especially boots. But belts are my mainstay, I wear them with nearly every outfit. I love belts! How would you describe your brands market and style …? Janin Australia brand has broad appeal. The focus is on women’s casual dresses. The cut and design of the dresses are very flattering for a wide range of body shapes and age groups. Janin Australia women’s-wear collection, focuses on casual print and solid colour dresses in Jersey. Janin Australia dresses are comfortable and provide versatility for layering and making multiple outfits. The pieces are perfect for someone wanting to look feminine and flirty. Janin Australia dresses are can be accessorised to go from day to night dresses, from work to fun The fabric of choice is high quality Jersey that feels nice to touch. With jersey it is comfortable to wear and doesn’t limit body movement. It is also a great fabric for draping. I search for interesting prints for my collection; you can find anything from strong and bright to very earthy and natural shades. Where can our readers get their hand on your label …?
