SunSETS, a laid-back new music event toasting the weekend’s last light at the popular Gold Coast shopping and lifestyle destination. Taking place on Sunday, August 20, SunSETS will see talented local artists provide twilight delights to inspire the crowd, as patrons enjoy delicious cheap eats from some of the Surfers Paradise centre’s most popular eateries, including El Patio de Cuba, Zambrero, and Crust Gourmet Pizza. Chevron Renaissance Marketing Manager Sarah Tate said the free, all-ages event was an ideal way for visitors to unwind after a busy weekend, with live music all afternoon from 2 to 8.30pm. “Think of a relaxed Moroccan retreat, with plush seating, chilled tunes and great food,” Ms Tate said. “Why not join us, as the sun dips below the horizon, to enjoy a casual late afternoon meal with friends and explore the unique retail and lifestyle experience we have created here at Chevron Renaissance?” Headlining the inaugural event, The Lyrical will treat crowds to an infectious blend of roots, rock and hip hop across a lively three-hour set from 5pm that will ensure the sun does not set on your weekend without suitable fanfare. Known for their commanding stage presence, The Lyrical is a unique act hailing from Brisbane and combines island vibes with soulful vocals to leave audiences in awe. Also performing, Byron Bay-based singer and songwriter Dan Hannaford has earned a strong fan base with his soothing mix of blues, roots and folk music, with his unique sound set to kick off the epic Sunday session from 2pm. And finally, rising artist Nick Cunningham, also hailing from northern NSW, joins the SunSETS line-up, delivering his incredible folk tunes from 3.30pm, with hypnotic melodies that have been captivating audiences at various performances and festivals, including Splendour in the Grass and the Byron Bay Blues Festival. Complementing this outstanding musical offering, guests can enjoy delicious food from selected restaurants within Chevron Renaissance, amidst comfortable surroundings inspired by the rich ambience of Marrakesh. El Patio de Cuba will offer two special meals for the event, including either lamb cigars flavoured with spices and drizzled with minted yoghurt ($14), or marinated mushrooms with goat’s cheese and leek gratin ($14). From Zambrero, visitors can enjoy a special offering of nachos ($10) or quesadillas for just $5, while Crust Gourmet Pizza serves up a lunch pizza and regular beer for just $12.50.
