Tonight’s SeaFire 2025 fireworks display at Surfers Paradise Foreshore has been cancelled due to unsafe seaway conditions, event organisers have confirmed.

The decision was made after it was determined that fireworks barges could not safely leave the seaway. Council took to social media citing safety as the top priority, stating that current conditions made it impossible to proceed with the show as planned at the Surfers Paradise location.

While the cancellation may come as a disappointment to those planning to attend the Surfers show, the good news is that SeaFire 2025 is still going ahead – just at different venues.

Spectators can still enjoy the full SeaFire experience at three alternative locations across the Gold Coast tonight:

📍 Kurrawa Beach, Broadbeach
📍 Broadwater Parklands, Great Lawn
📍 HOTA Parklands, Lake area

Event organisers expressed appreciation for public understanding, noting that while weather and seaway conditions are beyond control, safety remains the non-negotiable foundation of all planning.
